The Church Place Practice has been operating since 2003

We are a multi-practitioner clinic located in a quiet street in the village atmosphere of Paddington, Sydney. We are conveniently located about ten minutes from the CBD and easily accessible by public transport.

Osteopathy

Paddington Osteopathy is housed in The Church Place Practice. Our osteopaths are David Moor, Peter Edwards and Roger Engel.

Chinese Medicine

Church Place Practice also houses the Chinese Medicine practice of Jane Lyttleton.

Our Practitioners

Jane Lyttleton BSc (Hons) NZ, MPhil Lond, Dip TCM Aus, Cert Ac, Cert Herbal Medicine, China

Jane has focused on reproductive medicine for more than 35 years, and
has studied in China with some of China’s most revered doctors in this
field. Building on the wisdom and skill of highly experienced clinicians
in gynecology clinics in China, and the experience she has gained
working with couples and their doctors in Australia,  Jane has developed
a clinical approach uniquely appropriate for supporting western
patients planning or trying to conceive.

Jane is author of the seminal and highly acclaimed “Treatment of Infertility with Chinese Medicine”, published in 2004 (2nd edition 2013) by Elsevier Science translated into 3 foreign languages and now in its 13th reprint. It remains the standard text on infertility for TCM students and practitioners world wide. She co-authored the popular clinical reference books “Clinical Handbook of Internal Medicine: The Treatment of Disease with Chinese Medicine” in 3 volumes published by Pangolin Press and Eastland Press and has written the Chinese herb manual “Jade Woman, Jade Man Herbals” published by Kan.

Jane has presented at many international conferences and seminars to acupuncturists and IVF specialists.

Jane is a guest lecturer at University of Western Sydney Australia and the University of Westminster UK

She is a Fellow of Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association  and is Advisor to the board of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine and Patron of the Acupuncture Fertility Network in the UK. She is an Adjunct Fellow at the University of Western Sydney, National Integrative Medicine Research Institute (aka NICM).  Jane is on the Editorial Board for the International Standard Library of Chinese  Medicine at PMPH (Peoples Medical Publishing House) in Beijing. She is also Vice President of the charity Lotus Outreach Australia which works to prevent trafficking of young girls in Cambodia.

David Moor

David Moor has been in clinical practice for more than 40 years, having graduated from the NSW College of Osteopathy in 1978.

He completed the foreign doctors training course in acupuncture at Nanjing College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China in 1982, and completed a Master of Clinical Practice degree in 1991. He is registered by Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as both an Osteopath and a Chinese Medicine Practitioner, Acupuncturist.

He served as the osteopathic representative on the NSW Chiropractors and Osteopaths Registration Board from 1991 to 1998. David has been involved in the development of undergraduate and postgraduate osteopathic programs at several Australian universities and has a long history as an educator in this field.

David uses a diversified approach in his treatment and management of pain and structural problems. He has a long-standing interest in management of sports injuries and treatment of temporomandibular disorder (TMD). He believes in a collaborative approach to management of complex conditions.

“I endeavour to provide the best treatment for each patient that presents to me while helping that patient to understand their problem and to manage their own health and well-being. I have a personal interest in staying fit and in leading a healthy and balanced life. This influences my clinical practice in that as well as providing treatment and management for specific problems I advise and encourage patients to be active and to make healthy lifestyle choices. At the same time, I believe that it is important for health care practitioners to provide service without judgement about the choices that patients may make in their lives.”

David is a proud parent, keen surfer, lap swimmer, some time novelist and ardent garage band musician.

Peter Edwards

Peter trained at the British School of Osteopathy in London, graduating in 1990, and has been in private practice in Sydney since 1992. He was an associate lecturer on the Masters in Osteopathy course at the University of Western Sydney for 8 years, and and was co-author of “The Little Back Book” .

Peter employs a broad range of osteopathic techniques in practice, and has a particular interest in the treatment of neck pain and headaches. He is an avid motorcyclist and mountain-biker. Peter has recently taken up surfing which is a work in progress.

Roger Engel BSc(Hons), DO, DC, PhD

Roger has been an Osteopath for over 35 years working in both rural and urban settings in Australia and overseas. He returned to Sydney in 2001 to take up the position of Director of Clinics at Macquarie University, a position he held until 2006 when he decided to step-down and focus more on clinical research. Roger holds an academic appointment as Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University and Adjunct Professional Fellow at Southern Cross University.

He was awarded a PhD in 2012 for his work on the effect of manual therapy in the management of chronic respiratory disease. He has authored a number of publications including a book (co-author) entitled ‘An A-Z of Symptoms and Signs’, various book chapters and journal articles and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences.

Roger treats a broad range of patients from the very young to the not quite so young. He has an interest in a variety of conditions especially those related to the respiratory system and healthy ageing.

He is the father of two grown up children, step-father to two twenty-plus year old hulks, and keeper of a robust sense of humour.
